O Awake Ye My dear sleeper

Tune: BEACH SPRING (Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness)

1 “O awake ye My dear sleeper,

O awake My blesséd Bride

From an evil death I guarded,

Thee that thou may’st taste My side.

For from it floweth blessings,

That I crown Thee with, in love.

O My bride rise thus from slumber,

As My light shines from above.”

2 O my Bridesgroom, how I thank Thee,

For this blesséd morning light.

Thou hast deignéd me to waken,

Thou hast kept me safe this night.

Thank Ye Lord for gifts of wonder,

Thy true Body, and Thy Blood.

Through Thy word of grace sufficing,

In baptismal cleansing flood.

3 “Yes My love remember always,

All that I have hath done for Thee.

I hath justified thee wholly,

By My suffering set ye free.

I hath born all pain, affliction,

Poured ye forth from pierced wound,

From My side the queen of Heaven,

In My blood My Bride is found.”

4 Let me thus cleave ever to Thee,

Through this day when sorrows sore.

For I bear such great affliction,

Can I waiteth for Thee more?

I will hold on to Thy promise,

“I shall always be with thee.”

In the Sacraments that promise,

Thou accomplish thus for me.
