Tune: RUSTINGTON (In the Shattered Bliss of Eden)
1 Come ye baptized beaten broken,
Take and eat the Bread, of Life,
Bread once broken at the table,
Body broken through all strife.
This the gift of Christ most gracious,
This the truest love we know,
His true Body efficacious,
That our faith, good fruits may grow.
2 O, ye sinner at the table,
Take and drink this Cup of Peace,
His true Blood in, with, and under
Grants our greatest fears to cease.
This our God bled for us sinners,
That forgiven we may stand.
For His Bride flows from His innards
Guiding Her to Promised Land.
3 As our father in the Garden,
Ate the fruit of tree forlorn,
Death into the world thus flowing
God and man, a chasm torn.
Thus a second Adam pleaded,
Satisfaction for our sake.
He upon the tree was seated,
Telling us Himself to take.
4 For, this Jesus Christ, the Sealer,
Of Divine and man in One,
Worthy Lamb the scroll to open
Breaks the seals, the Father's Son,
Flowing forth all things temporal
From His Timeless Hands sublime,
Grants to us a life eternal
With our Shepherd for all time.
5 Bow and kneel we at the altar,
With the Cherubim above,
With the Seraphim we singeth,
“Holy thrice O God of love,
Unto Thee all honor, glory,
Riches, praise, and strength are Thine,
Thou O Lord art thē most Holy,
Thank Ye for this blesséd Sign”
6 “Take your hand O ye of little
Faith in Me and in My side,
Place it there that ye may truly,
Know that here thou art My Bride”
Grant this same assurance, blessing,
As we drink what Thomas touched,
That our father Jacob wrestling,
Thou shalt evermore be clutched
7 Grant Thy Holy Spirit to us
That in Unity may we,
From all heresy, and evil
Flee and purge the Papacy.
Be unto the Muslim stumbling,
As they seek Your Church's harm,
Pagan Jews Thy Bride art harming,
Lord protect us by Thine Arm.
8 △ All these gifts from God are given,
To the baptized in the Blood,
And the Body we forgiven,
Stand within the raging flood.
By the Father we are granted
God the Spirit through the Son,
That our sinful thoughts supplanted
With those of the Three in One.
